West All-Stars Blank East In All-State High School Football Game


Former Stanwood High School star Aaron Boehme scored both touchdowns as the West shutout the East 17-0 in the annual All-State High School Football Game at Everett Memorial Stadium. Even though Boehme ran for a touchdown and caught a touchdown pass, but it was Washington-bound quarterback Jake Locker of Ferndale who walked away with the game's MVP award. Locker completed 3 of 6 passes for 33 yards and one touchdown. Locker also ran the ball five times for 32-yards.

2006 Emerald City Kickoff Classic Match-Ups



The five match-ups for the 2006 Emerald City Kickoff Classic have been announced by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association. This year's Classic will be played September 2 at Qwest Field.

The 2006 Emerald City Kickoff Classic features two teams from the 2005 State Football Championship Gridiron Classic, Archbishop Murphy and Prosser, plus Hawaii runner-up Punahoa. It should also be star studded with three of the top returning quarterbacks in the state of Washington, Kellen Moore (Prosser), Kellen Kiilsgaard (Auburn) and Jason Munns (Southridge scheduled to play.

The 2005 combined win/loss record of the participating teams in the Classic is 98 wins and 23 losses. Included in that count are five teams that won at least 11 games in 2005.

Here's the five match-ups with kickoff times:

Archbishop Murphy vs Orting 9:30am
Columbia River vs Curtis 12:00pm
Auburn vs Moses Lake 3:00pm
Prosser vs Southridge 5:30pm
Eastlake vs Punahou (Hawaii) 8:00pm
